RMERT members will be accessible via Alphanumeric Pagers and utilize several large trailers designed to provide on-site disaster medical support. Hazardous Material Response - respond to either the initial HazMat site or respond to nearby hospitals requesting support for decontamination and care of contaminated victims of a HazMat incident, including, but not limited to, terrorist WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) event. Specially equipped trailers will enhance the ability to provide decontamination and medical care either on-scene or in support of local hospitals if they request assistance. Law Enforcement / Tactical EMS Support - Specifically trained and designated RMERT team members are STATT paramedics and physicians that provide Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS). These Special Tactical Assistance Trauma Team (STATT) officers are designated Peoria County Sheriff's Department Auxiliary Deputies who train and respond as an integral part of several Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) units, including the Peoria Police Department SRT and Peoria County Sheriff's Department's CIERT units. In addition, TEMS support may be provided during training and call-out assistance with the U.S. Secret Service, DEA, FBI, U.S. Marshalls Office, ILEAS (Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System) and other law enforcement agencies. No RMERT members are to function inside the inner perimeter unless they are fully trained and active STATT team members. However, non-TEMS trained RMERT members may assist in outside perimeter medical support should the situation require their assistance. Dive Team Medical Support - By special request from Region 2 dive rescue teams, a tiered response by trained RMERT members may provide medical support for the regional scuba-diving rescue teams when needed. All RMERT members will be educated in basic dive medicine support. Select RMERT personnel are dive certified and rescue team members. Special Events / Large Crowd Gatherings - Organizers of special events may seek pre-approval for use of RMERT assets to provide medical support for large crowd gatherings. Personnel from OSF SFMC and RMERT may provide basic and advanced medical care for large public crowd "special events" if specific criteria are met and approval is granted. Advanced request is mandatory and possible arrangements, staffing and equipment / supplies may be provided. Appropriate fees apply to these situations.
