Disaster
Preparedness Courses
Hazardous Materials Awareness
for EMS and Hospital Personnel
This class is directed to the
healthcare worker to give an understanding of identifying hazardous
materials and how to call for assistance when dealing with hazardous
materials. The length of the class is eight hours and meets the awareness
level of education per OSHA 1910.120. Healthcare workers that may deal
with some type of Hazardous materials may have to take this course due
to several regulations. Check with your institution or give me a call
if you have any questions.
CBRNE Awareness
Knowing how to identify and
treat patients from a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or
explosive device is very important for the healthcare worker. This two-hour
class is an updated presentation from last years' chemical and biological
awareness course. The threats and patient care protocols presented are
based on the latest intelligence data and clinical research.
Incident Command Systems for
Hospitals (Hospitals Only)
This class overviews the Hospital
Emergency Incident Command System (HEICS) for administration and management
of hospitals. The course gives key hospital personnel the tools they
need to manage the healthcare campus during an "all-hazards" emergency event. This course is 6 hours in length and consists of both
classroom and practical exercises. JACHO EC 1.4 requires the HEICS model
of crisis management or one similar for hospital operations during an
emergency event.
S.T.A.R.T. Triage for Hospitals
and EMS
This 4 hour class overviews
an easy and proven triage process. The class covers how to set up treatment
zones, how to use triage equipment, and of course how to triage patients
using the S.T.A.R.T. system. The class ends with a practical table-top
exercise.
