This course is designed to teach the necessary skills to recognize mechanism of injury, assess and perform critical interventions and package and transport of the trauma patient. The purpose of this course is to provide the skills necessary to get the victim to the Emergency Department in the best possible condition. A major focus of the course is the identification of conditions that require immediate transport (load and go) in order to save the life of the patient.

Refresher Track

The refresher Track of this course is recommended for those providers with PHTLS/BTLS certifications soon to expire.  The Refresher is a one day class that will update the provider on new changes, review the PHTLS assessment and skills, and to test the provider on the PHTLS assessment and exam.  If you have any questions about taking the refresher track, contact the EMS office.

Dress:

Since PHTLS is a very active course, please wear comfortable clothes and dress for the weather.
